On June 18, 2011, my wife and I held our wedding reception at the Fire Garden, and it couldn’t have been any more perfect.  The location is absolutely beautiful.  There were artists at our wedding that loved Tony’s wonderful sculptures, and there were botanists that were amazed by the incredible plants all around the place.  When the sun goes down is when the place really is at its best, with the fire sculptures coming to life and the lighting setting the perfect mood.

Tony was an absolute delight to work with, not only for us but for every single one of the vendors we brought in for the reception.  He was always more than happy to go the extra mile and make sure all of our needs were taken care of.  We could set things up early, clean up the next day, all things that you can’t usually do with “more typical” reception venues.  He personally worked with the caterers, DJ, photographers, and florists to make sure everything would turn out just the way we wanted it.

If you are looking for a totally unique experience that you and all your guests will remember forever, you need look no further.  Don’t forget to plan to see the location after sunset for the maximum enchantment.

My husband and I got married at The Fire Garden two years ago on Halloween and guests STILL comment to this day it was the best wedding they had ever been to. If it wasn’t for the beautiful setting of the gardens, the ambiance lent by all of Tony’s amazing fire sculptures, the huge tents, dance floor, sound system and decorations, our wedding would not have been so memorable. It is the cheapest price in San Diego for what you get, great hosts (very accomodating as well), plenty of parking, easy to find yet well hidden, and the lush landscaping makes this venue one of Southern California’s finest.

Pure Magic.

The twisting canopy of trees filled with red pomegranates, the flickering candles and blazing campfire-sculptures, the pillow-filled domes, couches, and sparkle of laser fairy-lights… Once I saw this venue I knew there would be no other as unique and magic.
The Fire Garden is a treasure and perfect for anyone who wants their event to be a little different, and a lot of awesome.
It really has that kind of natural magical feel to it… how to describe? Like Princess Mononoke. Like Labyrinth. Like the Dark Crystal.
The owners are super accommodating and available. The price is affordable and they have connections to caters and artist and stuff to make it easy.
The groom and I were actually the last ones to leave our own wedding because we loved this place so much. Laying on a outdoor canopy bed under a full November moon… Wow.
Do it!

Our wedding at the Fire Garden was more beautiful than we could have imagined! We had attended several events there, so had some idea of what to expect — but our expectations were greatly exceeded. The sheer beauty of the site’s gardens was greatly enhanced by the fire sculptures, artwork, lighting effects, and fabric treatments; we needed very little additional decoration to personalize the site for our wedding. Our guests were in awe! It was truly a magical event, and Tony and Lucy were delightful to work with. We can’t thank them enough!

When you are planning a wedding, there is nothing you can do until you have the location and date nailed down. So we set out one morning on a cross-county trip, looking at potential outdoor wedding sites.  We knew we didn’t want our ceremony and reception in a hotel or restaurant.  We had mapped out 10 locations or so that we had found on the internet and set off to check them out. After a number of hours looking at parks and other outdoor places, we were getting discouraged and figuring we would just elope.  The Fire Garden just happened to be last on our list because of the way our route was mapped out.  When we saw the sight, we knew in an instant that it was going to be the perfect place for both our wedding and reception, and the wedding was ‘back on’!

Tony was great, helping us with great ideas, tolerating the many visits of caterers and florists, and making us feel at home.  The site is so flexible, you can adapt it to any size group to make it feel intimate.

When the big day came, the site was beautiful - lush trees, ripe pomegranates, natural vines and flowers - with lots of different areas for people to gather and enjoy themselves.  We were married by an Inca Shaman and I swear that Tony had arranged for a flock of birds to fly over the ceremony at just the right time.

The best part came as we left the ‘ceremony area’ and came back to the reception.  Dusk had fallen and Tony and Lucy had all the lights on and fires lit.  It was stunningly beautiful.  We had been told about the lighting, but we had never seen the site at night until that moment - that even made the site seem special and new to us.  At the end of the night, our guests made smores over the open fires instead of being served cake.

We had roughly 100 guests and almost every one commented on how unique and beautiful the site and wedding was.  If we were greedy, we’d wish that no one would ever have a wedding there again, but the place is too awesome not to share.  We hope you choose to have your wedding at The Fire Garden and that you enjoy it every bit as much as we enjoyed ours.
